Waterville Valley actually lies in the shadow of the hill but groups take an American school bus up to the base lodge. It’s only when you see the kids get excited about getting on the American school bus that you realise that sometimes it is in the small things… When you are on the hill you are the responsibility of Conrad Oldenberg and this is where Waterville comes into its own and the sheer strength of organisation starts to show.
This isn’t the largest ski area (52Trails) but it is a triumph of quality over quantity and I defy you not to get the biggest of smiles from Upper and Lower Bobby’s run (Bobby being Robert Kennedy!). The ski school is great and the way that the trails are cut it means that whatever your level you will get to enjoy the whole mountain.
